"Oh well, I think I'm going to Reading."
I'll be honest and say those words escaped my mouth with a downhearted, slightly extended exhale. Reading Uni was my second choice following Newcastle and I know everyone likes to say they would be 'happy with either', myself included, but one thing was for sure, I was not.
"That's amazing darling, we are so proud of you," Mum said.
I know she was happy. She despised the idea of me moving 280 miles north because visits would be few and the travel? Long and expensive. Newcastle was one end of the country and my home was the other and this was a large pull factor in my decision process during the boring days of UCAS applications.
